A Mommy’s Checklist: Packing a Diaper Bag

Especially for first time moms, packing up all of baby’s daily essentials can be a handful. It is very likely that you will forget something very important and wish you could run back home to have it with you.

No need to worry because pretty soon you will find a formula that works for you, but until then, here’s a guide for packing a daytime diaper bag.

Note: Adjust according to season, the length of your trip, baby’s age and special needs.

The Essentials

Diapers

You may need one for every two hours and a few extra more just in case.

Wet Dry Bags and Ziplocs

Great for storing wipes, extra clothes, used diapers and more. Wet Dry Bags are an ideal sanitary must-have and absolutely convenient for sealing in odor and moisture.

Hand Sanitizer and Wipes

Changing Pad

1 - 2 Changes of Clothes

This goes for you and baby. These items would be most needed in case of spit-ups or spills

Bottle(s) of formula or expressed breast milk if you're bottle-feeding

Baby food and spoons

Sippy cup of milk, water, or juice (for toddlers)

Blanket and nursing cover

To add more comfort for baby and for adding privacy when breastfeeding in public.

(Note: Some blankets may be used as nursing covers as well, it’s up to you.)

Burp cloths and bibs

Sunblock (if baby is over six months)

Pacifier (if your child uses one) or other teething items

Mommy tip: Remember to pack these in clean bags

Emergency information

Make sure you have a list of contact details of your friends, family and doctor programmed in your cellphone. Aside from phone numbers, never forget your credit card and insurance cards.

Other than the Wet Dry Bags or Ziplocs, it’s good to have spare ones too just in case.

Light jackets for baby and mommy
